Welcome to dfwIDEA

dfwIDEA is a holistic powerhouse of information built on the foundation of Dallas Indicators and the principles of data democratization underlying this successful initiative.  Integrating the latest in interactive technologies, dfwIDEA significantly expands the functionality and scope of Dallas Indicators to include a robust online community, fully interactive mapping and data analysis, and a platform for accomplishing social change, while preserving the user-friendly approach to making data broadly accessible that is the hallmark of the Dallas Indicators program. In recognition of this expanded scope and functionality, the overhauled Dallas Indicators website will be re-branded as dfwIDEA, the flagship website of the IDEA initiative.

In just a few weeks, we'll be launching phases I and II, including the user community and the IDEAengine. We're working now to bring phase III to fruition. In phase III, dfwIDEA will start to include a growing number of technologies and initiatives—from collaborative, interactive brick & mortar environments to mobile technologies—designed to launch the data out of its web-based home and more directly facilitate empowered action. When fully implemented, the neighborhoodIDEA concept will expand geographically to become a family of websites serving different geographic regions, each loaded with powerful new interactive technology that will make more data more accessible than ever before.

Who's Behind dfwIDEA?

Who's behind dfwIDEA? Well, YOU ARE! While the Institute for Urban Policy Research at the University of Texas at Dallas built the site, the site and its data belong to the residents and businesses of North Texas. We're all intricately related. What happens in Dallas, to some extent, affects Fort Worth. What happens in McKinney affects Waxahachie. And so it goes.

dfwIDEA, through its facilities for collaboration and tools for data exploration, is meant to empower the residents of North Texas to improve quality of life. It does this by democratizing information in intuitive ways, building community capacity to use that information, then facilitating virtual and real-world opportunities to organize for change.

YOU are already a part of dfwIDEA. If you'd like to become a bigger part of IDEA, give us a call at (972)883-5430 to discuss our Data Partner, Content Partner, Change Partner, and Steering Committee programs.
